IPU and IPPFoRB Launch Global Webinar Series to Equip Parliamentarians Against Religious Hatred
The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief (IPPFoRB) have launched an eight‑month webinar series designed to help legislators address hatred and intolerance based on religion or belief. Running from late 2024 through mid‑2025, the series—“Parliamentarians against hatred based on religion or belief”—will culminate in an interfaith dialogue conference in June 2025.
Created for parliamentarians, their staff, and former members—including many active in the global “Faith for Rights” community—the series aims to strengthen collective action on freedom of religion or belief (FoRB), social cohesion, and the prevention of hate speech.
Empowering Lawmakers Through Knowledge and Dialogue
Across four sessions, participants will explore themes ranging from the foundations of FoRB to the growing challenge of online hate. Each webinar brings together international experts and legislators to exchange best practices and examine policy approaches that protect human rights while fostering inclusion.
All sessions are conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation in French, Spanish, and Arabic, ensuring global accessibility. Each webinar lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, and recordings are made available on the IPU’s YouTube channel.
