ARTICLE 18, THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS
IPPFoRB is made of parliamentarians from 90 (+ European Parliament) different countries across North and South America, Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
Almost 300 MPs from around the world have attended global conferences organised by IPPFoRB to highlight and discuss issues around freedom of religion or belief.
Over 60 MPs have been trained by IPPFoRB on issues of freedom of religion or belief.

Hon. Paulina Núñez, Member of the IPPFoRB Steering Group, has been elected President of the Senate of Chile, becoming the 5th woman in the country’s history to hold this office. Her longstanding commitment to democratic values, human rights, and freedom of religion or belief has strengthened IPPFoRB’s leadership since she joined the Steering Group in 2023. Her election marks an important moment for women’s political leadership in Chile and across Latin America.
To mark Human Rights Day, IPPFoRB has launched “Freedom of Religion or Belief: The Hidden Right,” a new awareness video highlighting global FoRB violations and the vital role parliamentarians play in protecting this fundamental freedom. The video aims to strengthen understanding of FoRB as a cornerstone of human dignity and peaceful societies.
